overview.

Focusing on Stellantis, a global automotive leader, I worked on designing an AI-enhanced In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) system. The system integrates voice and gesture controls, predictive navigation, and personalized entertainment, prioritizing safety and convenience for drivers. The goal for my team and I was to create an intuitive, hands-free interface that enhances the driving experience while ensuring efficiency and enjoyment.

problem.

We were presented with three problem statements from our client, Stellantis, which apply across all of their automotive brands. After careful consideration, we selected the following problem statement to focus on: AI-Enhanced IVI System for Safety and Convenience.

design decisions.

For this project, my partner and I chose the 2025 DS Automobiles DS7 Crossback as our design inspiration, as DS Automobiles, a premium brand under Stellantis, is known for its luxury, innovation, and sophisticated design. The goal was to develop an innovative In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) system for 2030, leveraging AI, machine learning, and smart technology to enhance the user experience.

user testing & feedback.

Tasks Tested

  • Add a new user profile

  • Change music using voice control

  • Adjust interior lighting based on weather

Outcomes

  • Users successfully completed profile creation and voice-controlled music tasks, confirming clear navigation and discoverability of core features.

  • Users struggled to adjust interior lighting, as the concept of “weather-based” controls was unclear within the interface.

Key Insight

  • While primary features were easy to access, the lighting experience needs clearer labeling or visual cues to better communicate its functionality.

style guide.

This style guide establishes a premium, brand-aligned visual system for DS Automobiles while maintaining clarity and usability across the interface.

  • Brand alignment: Uses DS Automobiles’ signature red and the Inter typeface to reflect a bold, refined identity.

  • Consistency: Defines a cohesive system for color, typography, components, and icons to ensure a unified experience.

  • Usability: Supports a dark, minimal interface with clear hierarchy and accessible interactions.

final designs.

The final designs refine the original concepts with improved information architecture, clearer hierarchy, and a cohesive visual system aligned with DS Automobiles’ brand. Key features are logically organized and easily accessible, while AI-driven elements like personalized profiles and smart climate controls support a premium, low-distraction in-vehicle experience.
